Welcome.
Welcome to Thiasa, an historically-based fantasy RPG. Were you entranced by Caesar's De Bello Gallico? Do you find barbarians warring with a colonizing Medieval kingdom fascinating? Do you just like knights, castles, and axe-wielding barbarians? Then you've come to the right place. On Thiasa, we give two distinct sides a voice. The colonizers, led by King Aelfric, split off from a tyrannical kingdom to found a new kingdom on the island of Thiasa. The natives, torn asunder by years of bloodshed, struggle to regroup and reclaim their land.
Enter the new King. After King Aelfric's death, King Aedan is determined to finish his father's work, and subdue the natives completely. They have other plans. A bloody war looms ahead. The serfs plan an uprising. The Zerui tribe seeks a Thiasan to sacrifice. And the king is still without a proper heir.
What happens next is up to you.

Word on the Street In this forum, you can track the site plot through rumors from both Thiasan and Baskari lands. The validity of any of these rumors is questionable, of course... but then, they say the slightest change in the wind can alter history. Nothing is ever certain. Forum Led by: Moderator |

History's Scribes Here you'll find a place to post character journals, a place to plot OOC with other members and set up relationships, and a place to post letters to and from either real or imaginary characters. The Baskar don't have paper or an alphabet, but they do communicate via outriders, men or women riding the swiftest horses who carry verbal messages between subtribes, or even between the Zerui and the Ekaini. Heaton Fiefdom Lord Bertram Heaton belonged originally to the Kingom of Scalia, across the narrow channel that separates the island holding Thiasa and the Barbarian Lands. However, he gladly surrendered to King Aedan's father, King Aelfric when he began to conquer the uncharted lands, breaking away from his native Scalia. Supplied by ships from Scalia or lands beyond, Heaton Fiefdom's opulence rivals that of Thiasa Keep, and it's been called more frivolous. Like the other fiefdoms, Heaton consists of a central manorhouse, surrounded by a wall and outlying fields. Forum Led by: Moderator |

Thiasa Keep Built by King Aelfric when he was only Sir Aelfric of Scalia, the Keep is surrounded by a high stone wall which took longer to set in place than the structure itself, and nestles between branches of the Medi River. Also inside the walls is the bustling township where the majority of Thiasans live. For added security, the Keep stands on top of a hill, making attack extremely difficult. Surrounding the walled Keep are terraced fields cultivated by farmers, who grow figs, barley, and olives.

The Medi River Slow-moving and not as treacherous as the Oran River, the Medi River keeps the farmers of Thiasa supplied with water, and provides a place for bathing, fishing, and recreation. Young children swim or bathe in it, as do townspeople and courtiers, though women and men stay separate while bathing... usually. Courtiers obviously bathe upstream from commoners. Newbury Fiefdom Granted to the Lord Cullen Newbury for his brave service to King Aelfric, when Newbury was only in his teens, it's now an established fiefdom, which Newbury keeps well-supplied by merchant caravans. It's a more austere fiefdom, dedicated to battle-readiness and poised in readiness should any barbarians attack. Forum Led by: Moderator |

Lawley Fiefdom Lord Elliott Lawley was a hard-bitten commander in King Aelfric's army, and he built Lawley Fiefdom after the first Barbarian Wars, leaving him just enough time to see a few years of peace in his own lands before he died. His son, Lord Darien Lawley, who has been in charge of the fiefdom for several years, has been called spoiled, reckless, and hotheaded... but he nonetheless does an adequate job of running the fiefdom.

Minor Fiefdoms Post your residence here if you're a lord with a minor fiefdom. You may not have a grand castle, but a manor made of wood will work just as well, and your serfs will work the land for you so that you can live comfortably and well. Forum Led by: Moderator |

Along the Oran River This deep, treacherous, fast-flowing river once ran red with blood: on the occasion of the first skirmishes between the barbarians and the Thiasans. Now it stands as a barrier between the two lands, and few venture to cross its chill, dark waters. The Ekaini (whose land borders the river) occasionally venture to fish on their bank, and the Thiasan soldiers stationed on the other side do the same. It's become a truce zone... for now. The Border Garrisons Here you'll find Thiasan military troops stationed at the border, carefully watching the strip of land that isn't bounded by the swift river. They try to keep watch every minute of the day and night, and to peer into the Zerui land on the other side to see if any trouble is brewing, but they can't always be sure... Occasionally, there are skirmishes with bands of barbarians. Forum Led by: Moderator |

Zerui Grazing Lands The Zerui graze their horses in the hilly fields next to the border. Sometimes they'll attempt to rush the border, shoving it back a few precious feet, but they're almost always killed on sight if they get too near. Still, they use their time spent grazing their herds in the lush border fields to watch their enemy as warily as the Thiasans watch them. Forum Led by: Moderator |

Between the Tribes Because both Tribes have heard, mid-Gathering, that the Thiasans are mustering for war, and emergency summit has been called. At River's End, they're setting up a large camp where Endikai and Zeru can meet, and plan their strategies for war.
Note: this occurs, timeline-wise, after each of the Tribes' Gatherings.

Endikai Lands The new warlord Endika sem'Edur commands the Baskar (as the so-called barbarians name themselves) in the western half of the 'Barbarian Lands' now that his brother has died. Within his realm are thousands of people dispersed in huge hide tents. He himself lives in a wood-framed longhouse draped with dyed animal skins and lavishly decorated with bronze ornaments. Endika is famous for his cultivation of horses, which his people keep in the wide fields between their tents. Forum Led by: Moderator |

da'Endika Central Camp This collection of enormous longhouses, wooden structures hung with animal hides, provides rest for all the greatest leaders under Warlord Endika's command. Surrounded by lush fields, where they allow their vast herds to graze, the camp is situated near a small river, which provides them with all their necessary food and water.

Zerui Lands The Zerui live similarly to the Ekaini. Scattered subtribes roam the plains, grazing their horses, but they always return to central groups of longhouses or, in the case of common Zerui, simple tents. Forum Led by: Moderator |

da'Zeru Central Camp Warlord Zeru lives similarly to Warlord Ekain. He too stays in a longhouse, but the doorflaps of his buildings must face east and never west. In addition, at the center of the camp lies a pyramid-like mound built from earth, to the top of which the Warlord ascends to pray to the Sungod, Eguzki, each morning.
